Hungary sugar tax (NETA): what it costs each drink, and what to do
The public health product tax charges soft drinks HUF 8 a litre up to 8g of sugar per 100ml, and HUF 23 above. Energy drinks, syrups, sweets and snacks have rates of their own. We work out the cost for every product and the most profitable response.
At the soft drink rates in force since January 2025. Energy drinks and syrups pay other rates.
